If someone does a good deed in public for everyone to see then doesn't that go against the teachings of Jesus?
What I am really referring to here is Hollywood stars and their causes. They purposefully make it known to the public that they are working towards this cause and that cause. They bring a camera team with them to Africa and they get their picture taken while they are helping the less fortunate. And then there are the banquets and charity foundation dinners. Everyone dresses up in their million dollar dresses and cameramen take a picture of them holding up a big check with their name on it that is going to whatever foundation they are donating it to (cancer research, research for any other type of disease, starving kids in Africa, kids in poverty who live in war zones, etc.). Wouldn't Jesus frown on this type of stuff. Shouldn't good deeds be done in private? I don't mean to be cynical but I think Hollywood stars use these opportunities to get press and advance their careers.
